A few days ago I was asked to do a semi-precious necklace for a commission piece. The customer wanted something in brown and neutral tones and initially I had suggested smokey quartz, but whilst sourcing these semi-precious beads I noticed how many colours agate comes in. In particular 'black lace' agate had not only the desired browns and neutral tones but such a warm lustre. I knew it would suit this particular customer down to the ground.
The necklace is a long 52 inch 'chain' which can be worn doubled as shown in the picture. (I also made a little matching bracelet too). The close up image shows just how beautiful, warm and lustrous the agate beads are. I made a point of using bright silver plated wires to bring out the shine.
